Matthew Cribbet Ph.D.
Assistant Professor Department of Psychology Email: matthew.r.cribbet@ua.edu Phone: (205) 348-5083 Office Location: Gordon Palmer Hall 185 Dr. Cribbet is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama. Dr. Cribbet completed post-doctoral training in Translational Research in Sleep Medicine at The University of Pittsburgh. He received a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from The University of Utah in 2013, a MS in Clinical Health Psychology from The University of Utah in 2009, and a BS in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2004. His work is highly interdisciplinary, as he employs theory and methods from clinical psychology, health psychology and sleep science to understand how poor sleep, stress and emotion dysregulation are associated with cardiovascular disease risk. He studies these risk factors for cardiovascular disease among individuals and within the context of close relationships such as marriage. He is also interested in understanding the mechanisms linking early life adverse experiences such as abuse and neglect to physical health. Dr. Cribbet serves as an associate editor for the journal Behavioral Medicine. Dr. Cribbet is accepting graduate students for the 2021 application cycle. |

Andrea Decker
Email: andecker@crimson.ua.edu Andrea is a 3rd year clinical student in the health concentration working with Dr. Matthew Cribbet. She is from Columbus, Ohio and received her B.S. in Neuroscience from Ohio State. Her research interests include circadian rhythms and their relationship to biomarkers of cardiovascular disease risk. She is also interested in the potential stress buffering effects of social support. |
Francisco Marquez
Email: fdmarquez@crimson.ua.edu Francisco is a 2nd year student in the Clinical Health concentration working with Dr. Matthew Cribbet. He earned his ScM in Epidemiology at Brown University after earning a BA in Philosophy at the University of California, Riverside. He is interested in learning more about the factors which mediate and moderate the association between adverse childhood experiences and deleterious health outcomes like obesity and the metabolic syndrome. During his free time, he enjoys trying new food, listening to new music, and learning the guitar. |

Abbigayle LaBonne
Abbi is a Senior at the University of Alabama from Chattanooga, Tennessee majoring in Psychology with a minor in Biology on a pre-med track. She is currently involved with UA Habitat for Humanity as the Director of Advocacy and with the College of Arts and Sciences as a Peer Advisor. She is interested in researching the effects of sleep quality on cognitive ability and emotional regulation. |
Maddy Taylor
Maddy is a Senior in the Honors College from Cincinnati, Ohio. She is studying Chemical Engineering on a Pre-Med track with a minor in Biology. She is involved in research that looks at the effects of adverse childhood experiences on sleep quality and depressive symptoms and is also interested in the effects of sleep and stress on cardiovascular health. She hopes to attend medical school after graduation. |

Mikayla Jones
Micky is a Senior at the University of Alabama from Tuscaloosa, Alabama majoring in Psychology with a minor in Biology on the pre-med track. She is involved in labs researching sleep, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and early life stressors. She hopes to further her career in the field of Clinical Psychology by attending graduate school.

Cayla Gilliland
Cayla has a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Alabama. She is involved in research labs that study sleep, creativity, rural mental health, and the learning capabilities of fish. She was awarded a fellowship and is currently pursuing her MS in Population Health Science. Cayla plans to apply to the Rural Medical Scholars Program with the eventual goal of going to UAB's medical school in 2022. |
Paige Loux
Paige is a Senior in the Honors College from Houston, Texas. She is studying Biology on the Pre-Med track with a minor in Psychology. She is currently working on a meta-analysis studying how childhood trauma relates to adult sleep quality. She plans to continue with her research with the Capstone Sleep Lab and hopes to attend medical school after graduation. |
Faith Bullock
Faith Bullock is from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She is a senior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Music. She's currently working in labs researching sleep and frontal asymmetry. Her interests include Child Psychology and Physiological Psychology. She hopes to continue her studies of Child Psychology into graduate school. |
Allison Andrews
Allison is a Senior from Richmond, VA majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biology. She will be completing her senior Honors thesis with the Capstone Sleep Lab this year, is assisting with a meta-analysis studying how childhood trauma relates to adult sleep quality, and hopes to continue her education at medical school following graduation. |
